Dr. Roy Stefanik, DO

Dr. Roy Stefanik received his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Rutgers University in 1982 and worked for two years as a registered pharmacist before being accepted to medical school. Upon completing his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Des Moines University in 1988, he did his internship at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA and his residency in psychiatry at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC.

Afterwards he served as Medical Director of the University of Virginia psychiatric inpatient unit at the Culpeper, VA facility.  From 2001 until 2009, Dr. Stefanik worked part-time with George Mason University Counseling and Psychological Services providing psychiatric evaluation and treatment of students.  From 2005 to 2021, Dr. Stefanik was the consulting and treating psychiatrist for students attending the VCU Schools of Medicine and Pharmacy at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA. In the spring of 2021, the Inova system transitioned from participating with the VCU School of Medicine to the UVA School of Medicine, where Dr. Stefanik continued to provide care until January 2023.. He is also a guest lecturer in the GeorgeSquared program at George Mason University, a collaborative graduate degree program between GMU and Georgetown in biomedical sciences.

In addition to his private practice in Manassas, VA, Dr. Stefanik is a clinical assistant professor in the department of psychiatry at the Georgetown University School of Medicine as well as being on the clinical faculty at George Washington University.  He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in adult psychiatry and has a particular interest in the treatment of college students.  His practice sees patients ages 18 and up.
